This happened to me last August and it without a doubt lit a fire in my butt. I have done more since then than all of my 20's.

Chris tells me that he thinks I am going to really love my 30s. Judging by how much more enjoyable every year of my life since I turned 18 has been, I don't doubt him.

On the day? S. & I had an early dinner with A_g__y__ at Tommy Tang's, then met up with friends down from SF, and the day ended in a Bolivian Marching band takeover of the bar at the Standard, which had just opened.

Had a big party. Asked a girl to sing me happy birthday. 4 years later, we're still together. It was a pretty great birthday.

I was laid off a week after my 30th birthday. Some things never change despite the so-called milestones.

I was up to no good.

Being 30 wasn't the big deal some people make of it. It's like your 20's, with maybe a little less energy, but a whole lot more common sense. Feel like since I turned 30 all the extraneous stuff (and some people) fell by the wayside.

Up to no good, hopefully! I'm turning 30 in June and my plan is to be on the road somewhere far, far away from the comforts of home.

when my boyfriend turned 30 we were in japan... my 30th was during school (i'm phd-ing) so we went skiing near where we live; it was his first time... we had a picnic in the chalet and then we got prepared foods from whole foods for dinner.
