this weekend was awesome. know what i did on saturday? NOTHING! it was great. we read comic books in my apartment and napped and watched [REC] (amazing spanish horror movie!!!). and cupcakes! and drawlins! best stay-cation ever.

OK so i tend to stay away from talking about the politics, but i find the whole republican VP pick totally insulting and sexist. but but but! it's got everyone inquisitive and we're talking about her daughter's uterus and so on. so maybe it's a smart move, but i can't stop thinking about idiocracy's president camacho:

When I realized what was going on, I yelped and grabbed my (pregnant) boss's arm really tight. I'm a wuss! The stairwells where I work are like these David Lynch labyrinths with low, green lights and dark corners, which added to my shot nerves. Worried because my phone calls weren't going through, ohhh 9/11 style panick!

We all went outside and everyone was wondering where the hell Chino was. I don't think many folks who live in LA are actually from here.
I really do like getting to know people who read this. So answer these questions cos questions are fun. Bonus points for making me laugh, since my brain is leaking out of my ears again.

1. What is your name?
2. How old are you?
3. Where do you live, what do you live in, and do you like it?
4. What do you do for a job?
5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
9. Ask me a question about anything.
10. Show me a picture of yourself.
11. Show me a picture of something that you think is awesome.

***********************
Here are my answers:

1. What is your name?
Wendy

2. How old are you?
I am twenty-eight years old.

3. Where do you live, what do you live in, and do you like it?
I live in a loft in downtown Los Angeles, near skid row. I have a lot of space, not enough stuff to fill it with. I have to fix everything myself (anyone who knows me understands the danger in this). The elevator hardly works, sometimes there is blood on the stoop, there are homeless dudes and bees outside my window. Oh, and there is a bridge is right by my bed, which makes my apartment very dusty and loud. It's super cheap and my air conditioner works, but I'm getting kicked out next year. I live alone and I love it.

4. What do you do for a job?
I'm a freelance graphic designer. Right now I'm doing print work in Hollywood.

5. What would you do with your time in an ideal world where earning money wasn't the top priority?
If I didn't have to earn a living, I would draw and bake and read and listen to records and take regular walks in the park. I'd probably start designing stupid things, such as better illustrated IKEA furniture assembly instructions. This is also dependent on a 30-hour day.

6. Do you make anything?
Besides silly work doodles and the occasional stuffed animal friend? I just made a kitchen counter, a delicious salad, and at some point I won't be too tired to work on a comic. Also I paint, print, sew, knit, crochet, and very rarely I make little songs and even littler movies.

7. What is your favorite food?
Dumplings.

8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
I've got Berlin on the brain again, and maybe a nice little forest cottage or a beach house would be nice. But I'm pretty happy with where I am right now.

10. Show me a picture of yourself.

11.
kvetch:

i got pushed out of my regular parking area at work because of some movie filming thing going on in the lot. so they moved me to another lot down the street. i get there, the attendant dude sends me to the back, past orange fencing and dumpsters (i start to wonder if this is a real lot), only to get turned around to the other side because that section is full. at the front, they make me park in a small triangle of space next to a dumpster. it's unmanageable (hi, i suck at parallel parking), so mustached parking attendant dude looks me straight in the tits and says, "give us your keys and we'll find you a space somewhere. you'll get them back when you return to pick up your car."

uhm. hmm. i'm motherfucking confused (i am old and retarded, ok?) and i tell them "i need a second to figure this out," (i am already very far from my work) and i hear another attendant yell, "look if she doesn't wanna do it, she can go fuck herself," in spanish. HEY GENIUS, you shouldn't talk shit to someone's face in spanish when you're in LOS ANGELES, even when they're chinky looking. it's not some secret code language! so i drive straight toward the dude and say, "excuse me, could you repeat what you said? cos i did NOT just hear that," in my most polite spanish. dude looks at me like i have a dick growing out of my face. so i drive out of the sad sack lot and into my building's fancypants spendy lot. $16. i'm taking the train in tomorrow.
